ISSS 2025
15th Biennial ISSS Conference / Seed Ecology VIII
Conference Theme: Synergies in Seed Science

Welcome to the ISSS 2025 Conference

On behalf of the Local Organising Committee, I would like to welcome you to join us on the 15 – 19 September 2025 in Perth, Western Australia, to participate in the International Society for Seed Science Conference, the 15th Biennial ISSS Conference / Seed Ecology VIII (ISSS 2025).

The International Society for Seed Science fosters research, education, and communication in the scientific understanding of seeds, and the ISSS 2025 will bring together, for the first time, two of the Society’s premier events as a joint conference to celebrate seeds and to inspire synergies across the seed science community.

With seeds at the forefront of solutions to many of our greatest social and environmental challenges, from food security and climate resilient crops, to biodiversity loss and habitat degradation, the ISSS 2025 will provide a forum for delegates to share their latest research, connect with colleagues, and establish new partnerships across the spectrum of the seed sciences. From molecular biology to functional ecology, this conference will have it all!

We are excited to host the ISSS 2025 at Kings Park, a site rich in Whadjuk Noongar cultural heritage and the home of the unique Western Australian Botanic Garden. The botanic garden is an everchanging, living research centre that focuses on the conservation of local flora and is unique in the world for its focus on WA species, displaying over 3000 of the State’s most diverse and spectacular plant species.

Kings Park and Botanic Garden offers delegates the chance to experience this cultural heritage and to immerse themselves in this spectacular and diverse plant biodiversity. The month of September coincides with Kings Park’s annual spring Festival – a time of captivating floral displays and a wealth of workshops, tours, and family events to enjoy.

I look forward to seeing you in Perth to participate in the five-day program of scientific presentations, informal networking and social functions, and student-focussed events, and trust that you can take advantage of the opportunity to explore Perth and the many outstanding destinations within Western Australia.

Yours sincerely,

Dr David Merritt
